Enacted by Congress in 2002, the Support Anti-Terrorism by Fostering Effective Technologies Act, or SAFETY Act, serves as one of the highest levels of accreditation offered by DHS and promotes the development and deployment of effective anti-terrorism products, systems and services.

The SAFETY Act Designation and Certification award recognizes CEIA USA for having technologies and processes needed to help mitigate and reduce the risk of a terrorist attack and provides liability protection. CEIA USA solutions have been an active part of SAFETY Act awards since 2006. The term of the Designation for OPENGATE is valid through June 30, 2028. The term for the Designation and Certification of its series of walk-through and hand-held metal detectors is valid through May 31, 2028.

CEIA USA advances screening operations with new Security Checkpoint Solution provides Anti-Covid Security Checkpoint for the automatic inspection of people in transit

CEIA USA, a premier provider of high-performance Security Metal Detectors, today announced the availability of the new CEIA 02PN20v3 anti-COVID security checkpoint. The rapid spread of COVID-19 infections has required the introduction of containment measures at all levels including the use of face masks, social distancing and also the measurement of body temperature as an indicator of possible virus infections. Security checkpoints at the entries to airports and other sensitive buildings should now be equipped with security systems compliant with these new measures. This means detecting target threats with the minimum rate of nuisance alarms in order to:

Anti-COVID Compliant Security Checkpoint

The 02PN20v3 offers the detection of metallic threats in accordance with security level settings by a next-generation inductive detector with high range uniformity and excellent discrimination of metal personal effects thereby reducing the number of necessary secondary checks. A high accuracy detection zone display for individual and multiple objects speeds up screening operations. Body surface temperature measurement using a combined visible-infrared multispectral system automatically indicates the maximum value and signals an alarm when the legal threshold is exceeded. An exclusive integrated thermal calibration system provides continuous calibration of the thermal measuring system using two grey stabilized bodies. Transit direction and count verification with synchronization of the temperature measurement of the inspected person inside the gate ensures maximum accuracy and unique signaling.

Checkpoint Monitoring and Recording

The 02PN20v3 provides detailed reporting of the transits data and the security device configuration data along with data collection from each gate detailing the information on every single transit including body temperature, metal alarms, gamma alarms (optional) and cell phone alarms (optional). Additionally, it provides monitoring of the functionality of each gate, setting of the gate working parameters, high security data encryption and transits flow monitoring.

The new CEIA TDU is available as an embedded upgrade sensing kit that can be installed on all current CEIA panel and elliptic column walk-through metal detectors (WTMDs). Designed for fast and cost effective screening operations, TDU enables simultaneous threat and fever detection on all screened persons from the same WTMD with no additional checkpoint space required. Continuous calibration of the thermal system ensures maximum accuracy and unique signalling including indication of the thermal alarm on the WTMD control unit display. TDU provides automatic and clear temperature alarm indication making it simple to operate with minimal training required.

The TDU has an exclusive integrated thermal calibration system with double reference (patented) that ensures automatic calibration. Each reference is constantly controlled by a sensor device that is 100% tested on a production setup that is NIST traceable and verified with equipment that is calibrated to ISO/IEC 17025 accredited standards.

The CEIA PD240CH-Z4 includes a large detection area for fast and accurate screening operations and is the only hand-held MRI patient screening device capable of separately detecting either ferrous metallic items only or all non-ferrous metallic items. It’s dual-tone and dual-color signaling enables high precision pinpointing for item location. Given its non-magnetic construction, the PD240CH-Z4 can be used inside the MRI room (Zone 4) without the risk to be attracted or damaged by the magnets while not comprising performance or creating a potential projectile risk. It can also be utilized as part of the pre-screening process outside of the MRI room (Zone 4).

CEIA USA is pleased to announce the promotion of Luca Cacioli to chief executive officer. In his new role as CEO, Luca will lead the development, promotion and execution of CEIA USA’s business growth strategy and manage all departments and divisions.

Luca joined CEIA USA in 2012 as director of operations. Prior to joining CEIA USA, he held positions in product development and marketing management.

Luca holds a BSEE/MSEE from Universita’ di Firenze, Florence, Italy, and his MBA from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX.

As CEO, Luca will oversee all CEIA USA business activities to ensure alignment with short-term and long-term strategic objectives. He will provide managerial and strategic leadership throughout the organization. MRI safety screening is essential for both patients and staff and should be simple, fast and highly effective every time. TheMetalMagwalk-through detector automatically detects a wide variety of metallic items and ferromagnetic material threat items, such as scissors, that are considered dangerous in MRI environments all while eliminating unnecessary false alarms for non-threat items such as shoes, eyeglasses and even underwire bras. ThePD240CHhand-held detector provides precise screening and uniform detection of smaller dangerous items for patients prior to being admitted to the MRI magnet room. The PD240CH portable metal detector combines high sensitivity to ferromagnetic metal masses with immunity to non-ferromagnetic metal masses such as dental fillings, as well as dental and metal limb prosthesis. Additionally, by quickly changing the operational mode, it can become a complete metal detector capable of detecting any type of metal material to include pacemakers, prostheses and vital support devices, as well as any other object carried by the patient that should not be taken into the strong magnetic field area. This mode can also be used to identify, for example, the presence of metal slivers in a patient following an accident or swallowing metal objects.

CEIA announces new product addition: Power Cube 100SA/80 100 kW Generator

CEIA is pleased to announce the addition of the new POWER CUBE 100SA/80 100 kW generator to the successful CEIA Power Cube generator family. The state-of-the-art POWER CUBE 100SA/80 100 kW works with high power output up to 100 kW at frequencies of 20 to 80 kHz and features remarkable efficiency (over 96%) and maximum operating flexibility. This new generator extends the CEIA Power Cube family’s range of available power from 2 to 100 kW with frequencies of 20 kHz to 2 MHZ.

For over 30 years, CEIA has been manufacturing High and Medium frequency Inductive Generators with high energy efficiency and minimum operating costs. This extensive experience along with continuous and scrupulous technological research ensures CEIA products offer the highest quality and safety standards.

The new PW3-100SA/80 generator includes the exclusive Autolearn function that allows for automatic configuration of the internal parameters, thereby reducing the set up time and consequently reducing the operating costs. Thanks to its specific microprocessor control software, the generator can self-adjust in real time to variations of the working load, automatically modifying the internal coupling circuit and maximizing the transferred power. This self-adjustment feature ensures more efficient operation. The generator is also easy to use thanks to the new touch screen graphical user interface that allows the operator to program the working settings quickly and easily.

An integrated Web-Server and Data Logger system allow data storage for up to three consecutive months for proper process quality control. The data logger monitors the heating temperatures, output power, frequency, tension and current on the inductor. Through an Ethernet TCP/IP connection it is possible to access the Generator in order to remotely monitor and control the programming settings and interface with SCADA / DCS systems.

Thanks to the use of the Thermal Profile Monitoring software, coupled with the use of the new CEIA SH15/SLE Optical Pyrometers, it is now possible to certify the quality of all products requiring specific heating profiles.

The new Generator is excellent for all the traditional heat treating applications, including brazing, forging, and annealing, as well as for all those continuous heating cycle applications, where an accurate control of the process parameters and a stable and constant output supply power of the Generator is required.

Like all CEIA Generators, the new PW3-100SA/80 complies with the Electrical Safety and Electromagnetic Compatibility regulations.

CEIA USA, Ltd., a premier provider of security screening equipment, announces it has named Luca Cacioli to the newly-created position of Director of Operations. Mr. Cacioli will oversee all functions of CEIA USA and will be responsible for leading strategic initiatives to expand and grow the organization.

“I am very excited to be associated with an organization that has an outstanding national, and international, reputation in the world of electromagnetic technology, induction heating systems and security screening solutions,” said Cacioli.

Mr. Cacioli comes to CEIA USA from Texas Instruments in Dallas, TX where he previously served in various world-wide product development and marketing management roles. As a marketing manager, he was instrumental in defining and releasing more than 75 devices, including the industry's first family of low-power audio codecs with integrated DSP, which were successfully adopted by several tier-1 consumer electronics customers because of their high performance/cost ratio and ease of use. Mr. Cacioli also published articles for industry publications, including the EE Times.

Mr. Cacioli received his BSEE/MSEE from Universita’ di Firenze, Florence, Italy, and his MBA from Southern Methodist University (SMU), Dallas, Texas. He will be relocating to Northeast Ohio with his wife and two children.

New Optical Pyrometers SH15/SLE-550

The SLE series covers a reading range from 80˚ to 2,000˚C and comes equipped with a low intensity LED aiming light for proper positioning.

CEIA USA, Ltd. announced today the EMIS Series of Cargo Screening Systems have been placed on the Transportation Security Administration’s (TSA) Air Cargo Qualified Technologies List (QTL).

The EMIS series (EMIS 6047, EMIS 8075, EMIS 110160 and EMIS 130160) is designed for automatic detection of detonators, initiator devices and metal weapons inside non-metallic cargo such as paper, newspaper, perishable goods such as produce, fish and meat (fresh or frozen) and organic material in general. The advanced electromagnetic technology minimizes interaction with the goods themselves and does not depend on visual interpretation of an image by an operator.

New SL optical sensors: compact, direct-reading optical sensors for contact-free temperature measurement between 80°C and 2000°C

CEIA’s new line of SL optical pyrometers are characterized by their extreme compactness and solidity, wide range of temperatures, quick measurement time, immunity to interference in induction heating applications and reduced dimensions of the reading spot. The new SL sensors are compatible with all v.3 controllers, and can be used in applications such as hardening, soldering, melting, tempering, brazing, expansion fitting and all other processes in which accurate control of the temperature is required.

Every pyrometer is equipped with an internal digital memory to store all the calibration parameters, and fitted with a special sensor to measure and compensate for the ambient temperature.

The range comprises 3 basic models: the SH15/SL, with a temperature reading range of 80°C to 800°C; the SH40/SL, from 200°C to 1400°C; and the SH60/SL, from 600°C to 2000°C. Each model can be equipped with an adjustable focal length for temperature reading.

CEIA USA Unveils Groundbreaking Third Generation Network Upgrade Module

Designed around client requirements, the newly released APSIM/3 network module is now available as an upgrade to any CEIA Walk-Through Metal Detector for the added capability of being managed over a network.

The APSIM/3 module can remotely track and download recent transit results even without the use of a centralized networking software package. With the module’s included web interface, the user just logs into the network to obtain basic graphs and transit reports as well as control the basic parameters for any detector connected. The module also offers the capability to update the metal detector’s firmware and track important configuration information for initial and subsequent setups.

The APSIM/3 module is primarily used to connect with CEIA’s NetID Software. NetID is the market leader for robust metal detector connectivity with secure, failure resistant communications. It has been the backbone for many large federal, commercial and local installations for years.

CEIA USA Launches Automatic Screening Device for Non-Metallic Cargo: detect detonators and metal components of explosive devices hidden inside commercial cargo

CEIA USA, the world leader in threat detection technologies, announced today the availability of a solution that will drastically improve the screening of non-metallic commercial cargo such as produce, seafood, meats, printed materials, flowers and apparel. The EMIS (Electro-Magnetic Inspection Scanner) quickly and accurately screens packages or pallets using a harmless, low intensity electromagnetic field to ensure there are no explosive devices hidden within. This method of inspection does not require visual interpretation of an image, unlike typical x-ray scanners. Threats can be identified throughout the entire stack of cargo minimizing operator interaction with the goods.

Background

In 2007, Congress passed the Implementing Recommendations of the 9/11 Commission Act more commonly known as the 9/11 Act. This new law mandated that all cargo transported on a passenger aircraft be screened for explosives by August 1, 2010. TSA developed the Certified Cargo Screening Program (CCSP) as a solution to help industry reach the 100 percent screening mandate. The program enables freight forwarders and shippers to pre-screen cargo, avoiding any potential bottlenecks at the airport. Facilities such as manufacturers, warehouses, distribution centers, third party logistics providers, indirect air carriers, airport cargo handlers, and independent cargo screening facilities may apply for the CCSP.

Details

The EMIS can be utilized at these types of facilities to satisfy program requirements and is available in four models depending on their screening needs: EMIS6047 for small packages, EMIS8075 for medium to large packages and EMIS110160 or EMIS130160 for palletized cargo.
